The short version: your window layouts never leave your Mac. There's no account and no tracking. The app has no analytics at all, and this website only counts anonymous visits and clicks, without cookies.

The Anchor app

• Window layouts stay on your Mac. To put windows back, Anchor saves each window's app, title, position and size, plus the name and hardware ID of each monitor. Window titles can include document or web page names, so we're telling you plainly: this is stored only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Anchor/profiles.json, and never uploaded. Delete that file to erase it, or delete a profile from Anchor's Settings.
• Accessibility permission. Anchor uses it only to read and set window positions and sizes. It doesn't read the contents of your windows, your keystrokes or your screen.
• Free trial. The date your trial started is stored in your Mac's Keychain. It isn't sent anywhere.
• License activation. When you enter your license key, Anchor sends the key and your Mac's model name (for example “MacBook Pro (14-inch, Nov 2023)”, never your computer's name) to our payment provider, Polar, to activate it and check about once a day that it's still valid. That's the only thing Anchor sends over the internet, apart from update checks.
• Updates. Anchor checks our website for new versions. This request includes your app version and macOS version, like any download does.

This website

• No ads, no cookies, and nothing that follows you around the web.
• We count anonymous visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or fingerprinting. We also count a few anonymous clicks (like “Buy”, “Download” or using the demo) as simple daily totals, to see what's working. None of this identifies you.
• Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (like IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record for Anchor. They process your name, email, billing details and payment method under their privacy policy. We receive your email and order details so we can support your purchase and email you your license key (sent through our email provider, Resend). We never see your card number.

If you claim cashback, we store your purchase email, order ID, the link to your post, the view count and your screenshot so we can review the claim.
